The theme block is a Shopify theme app extension you embed directly into your store's pages. It renders personalized catalog cards inline with your existing layout — on your homepage, a collection page, or anywhere your theme supports app blocks. Customers see their deals as they browse, without needing to click through from an email first.
How it works
When a customer visits a page with the theme block, Randio checks if there is an active campaign for them. If there is, the block renders their personalized product cards right on the page. If there is not, the block stays hidden — no empty state, no placeholder.
For Storefront campaigns, the block works for anonymous visitors too. A guest who has never been to your store before can see a personalized catalog on their first visit. This makes the theme block the primary surface for Storefront campaigns — whichever mode you have chosen — since there is no email to send to someone who arrives on their own.
Where to place it
For nearly everyone, the answer is the homepage — and for almost every store that is the only placement worth bothering with. It is where the overwhelming majority of organic traffic lands, so it is where the block gets seen. The other spots below are real but rarely necessary.
- Homepage — below the hero but high on the page. This is the primary spot; "Deals picked for you" is a strong hook for returning visitors, and the homepage catches the widest slice of your traffic.
- Collection pages — near the top, before the standard product grid, if you want a second placement. Customers see their personalized deals before the general catalog.
- Account page (Logged In mode) — a natural fit for signed-in shoppers, since their personalized catalog lives alongside their account. Genuinely niche, but a sensible touch if you lean on Logged In mode.
Wherever you place it, keep it high on the page. The whole point is passive discovery — customers should see it without scrolling past everything else first.
Start with the homepage
If you do nothing else, put the block on your homepage. For almost every store that one placement is all you need — it captures nearly all of your organic browse traffic. Only add a second surface if you have a specific reason to.
Theme block vs. page templates
The theme block and page templates (squeeze or embedded) serve different purposes and work well together:
- Page templates are where email links point. A customer clicks "View your catalog" in a campaign email and lands on a dedicated page showing their full catalog.
- The theme block catches customers who never clicked the email but visit your store anyway. They see their deals passively while browsing.
Running both means no customer falls through the cracks. The email-to-page flow handles direct engagement. The theme block handles organic visits. Same catalog data, two surfaces.
The block in each Storefront mode
A Storefront campaign runs in one mode at a time, and the theme block serves whichever one you chose.
In Guest Mode, the block is essential — there is no email to send, so it is the only way to show anonymous visitors (arriving from search, ads, or direct traffic) their personalized deals in the moment.
In Logged In Mode, the block is the surface for signed-in shoppers. Any logged-in customer who visits a page with the block sees their Storefront catalog — unless they are already in an Outreach campaign, which takes priority for that customer.
What customers see
The block renders as a horizontal row of product cards — responsive across devices. Each card shows the product image, name, original price, and discounted price. Customers can add items to their cart directly from the block with a quick-add button, or click through to the product page for more details.
The block inherits your theme's fonts and spacing, so it looks like a native part of your store. The product cards are styled by Randio but designed to blend in rather than stand out as a third-party widget.
Think of the theme block as a net. It catches customers who are already on your site, browsing on their own. They did not click through from an email — they showed up organically, and the block surfaces their deals while they shop.
